News from Mike: New LP and LPU9

It's been a busy week. Studio every day, working on new stuff. This week, I did a song where the music sounds like Santogold (or Santigold, if you like) meets Postal Service meets At The Drive In or something. Very weird...but even weirder, the vocals are crazy--I asked our engineers what they thought it sounded like, and the responses I got were things like "Peter Gabriel" and "Huey Lewis, in a really good way." Four-part harmonies that ebb and flow with the track. I feel like I'm on drugs when I'm listening to it. It's tentatively called "Chicken Basket." Next week, we're all going to get together and listen to everything and vote on stuff, to see how progress is going. I'll let you guys know how it goes...
Secondly, another newsworthy thing: as it turns out, our LP Underground fan club is going to be friggin' amazing this year! In case you don't know, we always put out a CD with the club, and this year's CD is a monster. It contains 8 previously unreleased demos from Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Minutes To Midnight, plus a NEW, UNRELEASED LINKIN PARK SONG recorded during the MTM sessions. That's 9 tracks in all (for LPU9, get it?). You also get a shirt, patch, guitar pick, and exclusive chances to meet the band if we're doing a show or event in your area. Linkin Park Video game

Mike posted on his blog about the upcomming video game for iphone and ipod touch with Linkin Park.

As announced earlier this year (http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/permalink/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20090421005647&newsLang=en), we're putting together a video game for the iPhone and iPod touch. So far, it has been a lot of fun...although we don't have a release date to announce yet, I thought I'd share a few of my concept drawings with you guys. I know it's a terrible picture, ha!

This is the first time since the announcement that we've really talked about or mentioned anything about the game. We 're still working on it, but here's what we want it to be: 1) Unique, 2) Fun.

We've been brainstorming ways to make story, combat, puzzles, music-based challenges, and RPG elements all fit within a community in the game. There are also some really funny things going on in the game that I know a lot of LP fans will recognize. Stay tuned for more info...

The interview focuses mainly on Ap's upcoming LP "Wanna Snuggle?", but also makes mention of the Get Busy Committee project with RYU and Scoop DeVille, and also gives some insight into some of Mike Shinoda's past musical ventures."

“Mike is a super Hip Hop guy,” Ap noted of his super famous friend. “Mike has old freestyles to Smoothe Da Hustler, ‘Broken Language.’ Mike’s one of us, man!”

Mike talks with Billboard.com

Check out a new interview with Mike over at Billboard.com! He talks about the Linkin Park album they are all working on.

"We mentally want to get back to [2000's "Hybrid Theory"] not because we want to sound like [that], because I don't think we do," Shinoda says of the forthcoming Linkin Park album, which they aim to release in the first half of 2010. "But we want to make this record a record with identity, hopefully not one you've heard before. One you can listen to and say, 'That's brand new... It's definitely Linkin Park, but it's definitely different.'"

Mike vaporized Chester's arm

Mike and Dave destroyed our beloved singer's arm :P

Today, Phoenix, Chester, and I wrote a song so awesome it vaporized Chester's arm.

Unfortunately, you'll never hear it. we don't want to risk any fans getting vaporized.
